The trek typically starts from Besisahar and follows a route that takes you through diverse landscapes, including lush forests, charming villages, and high mountain deserts. Here’s a day-by-day itinerary for the Tilicho Lake trek:

Day 1: Kathmandu to Besisahar

Your journey begins as you arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal’s vibrant capital. From there, you’ll embark on a drive or bus ride to Besisahar, the gateway to the stunning Annapurna region. Your first night will be spent in Besisahar, where you can rest and prepare for the trek ahead.

Day 2: Besisahar to Chame

On this day, you kickstart your trek from Besisahar, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the Annapurna region. The trail leads you through lush forests, terraced fields, and charming villages, culminating in your arrival at Chame, the headquarters of the Manang district. You’ll spend the night in Chame, rejuvenating for the upcoming adventures.

Day 3: Chame to Pisang

Your trek continues alongside the Marshyangdi River, where you’ll pass through apple orchards and cross a suspension bridge. Eventually, you’ll reach Pisang, a picturesque village that offers stunning mountain vistas. Here, you’ll find your accommodation for the night.

Day 4: Pisang to Manang

This leg of the journey takes you through the Upper Pisang region, providing breathtaking views of Annapurna II and III. A visit to the old monastery in Upper Pisang adds a cultural dimension to your trek before you push onward to the beautiful village of Manang. You’ll spend the night in Manang.

Day 5: Acclimatization Day in Manang

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, essential for adapting to the higher altitudes. You’ll explore the charms of Manang and its surroundings, with the option to visit Gangapurna Lake or embark on a short hike to aid your acclimatization. Your night will be spent in Manang.

Day 6: Manang to Khangsar

The journey leads you to the serene and less-touristy village of Khangsar. You’ll trek through stunning landscapes, and the peaceful atmosphere of Khangsar offers a refreshing change. Your overnight stay will be in Khangsar.

Day 7: Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp

Your day begins with an ascent to Tilicho Base Camp. The trek takes you through rocky terrain, offering awe-inspiring views along the way. Upon reaching Tilicho Base Camp, you can rest and prepare for the adventures to come.

Day 8: Visit Tilicho Lake and Return to Tilicho Base Camp

In the early morning, you’ll trek to Tilicho Lake, a breathtaking natural wonder. Spend time exploring the serene lake and soaking in the solitude of the high mountains. Afterward, return to Tilicho Base Camp for a well-deserved rest.

Day 9: Tilicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka

Descend from Tilicho Base Camp and make your way to Yak Kharka. The trail continues to offer magnificent views of the surrounding landscapes as you journey to your overnight stay in Yak Kharka.

Day 10: Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi

Your trek carries on as you descend towards Thorong Phedi, your last stop before facing the challenging Thorong La Pass. Take this opportunity to rest and prepare yourself for the pass crossing, knowing it’s the final hurdle before the descent.

Day 11: Thorong Phedi to Muktinath via Thorong La Pass

An early start is essential as you conquer the formidable Thorong La Pass, standing at a lofty altitude of 5,416 meters (17,769 feet). The pass rewards your efforts with panoramic views. Afterward, begin the descent to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 12: Muktinath to Jomsom

Embark on a trek to Jomsom through arid landscapes, making a visit to the renowned Muktinath Temple. Upon reaching Jomsom, a larger town with various facilities, you’ll find your accommodation for the night.

Day 13: Jomsom to Pokhara

Weather permitting, take a morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. Once in Pokhara, spend your time exploring the city and relaxing by the serene Phewa Lake. Your overnight stay will be in Pokhara.

Day 14: Return to Kathmandu

On the final day, you’ll either drive or fly back to Kathmandu from Pokhara. Take the opportunity to explore the capital city, shop for souvenirs, and enjoy a memorable farewell dinner as you conclude your epic trekking adventure.

This is a basic itinerary, and you can adjust it to your preferences and available time. The trek can be extended by adding extra rest days or side trips to nearby villages.
